MAKING

The Atelier has been instrumental in elevating my design to new levels, equipping me with effective techniques for conveying ideas. Through iterative modelling, I delved into unique forms, enriching the user experience and offering fresh perspectives. Physical modelling deepened my understanding of form elements like structure, texture, and spatial quality. Combining digital design tools such as Grasshopper, AI, and Rhino with physical modelling, I brought my architectural visions to life in captivating ways.

RINGWAY MALT DISTILLERY

The whiskey distillery and visitor centre near Manchester's runway combine sustainability, bioclimatic principles, and local relevance. Consideration of the local climate ensures optimal energy efficiency, utilizing both the distillery's excess energy and renewable sources. The biophilic design creates visually captivating spaces, improving indoor air quality and enhancing well-being and productivity. Inspired by the flowing movements of aeroplanes and trees, the building's form integrates with the surroundings.

The design incorporates traditional industrial materials and textures, evoking a sense of familiarity among locals. Warm colours and the inviting atmosphere contribute to a welcoming ambience, making the building resonate with Manchester's identity and heritage.

Parametric design techniques add a futuristic touch, ensuring longevity and visual impact while enabling cost savings through prefabrication. Delighting visitors and providing a remarkable user experience are central principles. The building offers delightful spaces, inclusivity, and a curated journey that fosters joyful experiences and lasting memories.
